2021 Victorian Khanacross Championship – Round 9 Cancelled
After much planning and preparations for the North Eastern Car Club’s inaugural running of round 9 of the 2021 Victorian Khanacross Championship which was scheduled for Sunday November 7th; the event organising committee and the North Eastern Car Club have had to make the difficult decision to cancelled this year’s event due the current Coronavirus (COIVD-19) pandemic that is continuing to impact our state.
The event organising committee felt that given the current volatility and unpredictability of the pandemic, it would not be in the best interests of the North East communities to conduct this state championship event which would see competitors and supporting crew from all parts of Victoria and southern New South Whales gathering at Carboor for a weekend of competition.
The event’s Clerk of Course and North Eastern Car Club President, Scott Mann stated that while the nation has got behind the vaccination drives in recent months, the potential for transmission of the Delta strain into communities which are not currently exposed to the virus was too greater risk; “The club felt that running the event at this point in time was not in the best interests of these communities” Mr Mann noted.
The club will work towards securing a date for a round of the 2022 championship with the state championship co-ordinators whilst continuing to monitor the pandemic and work with both state and local agencies to ensure the event can be conducted in safe manner in the future.
